What to Expect

Physiotherapy is the treatment and rehabilitation of the body following pain, injury or surgery.

Our Physiotherapists treat all injuries and pain of the body ranging from the more common complaints of joint sprains, muscle strains and back/neck ache to problems such as ligament tears, arthritis, osteoporosis, disc problems, sciatica, headaches, poor biomechanics, muscle imbalance, inflexibility and poor core strength.

Within your first session we diagnose your problem, explain your condition to you, treat you with hands on physical therapy and provide you with advice on exercise, good posture and workplace ergonomics. We use treatment techniques such as joint mobilisations, soft tissue release (trigger point therapy, acupressure, dry needling and massage), stretching, core strengthening programs and muscle energy techniques.

No doctor’s referral is necessary to see a physiotherapist. We can refer on to specialists and doctors or for further tests if required. Whether you have sprained your ankle, hurt your shoulder or pulled your hamstring, whether you are super sporty, an armchair athlete, or thinking of returning to fitness and whether you have pain in your body or just want advice as to how to get stronger to prevent any problems, then physiotherapy can help you.

Biokinetics using exercise therapy to treat medical conditions. We look at the patient as a whole and don’t treat symptomatically. More often than not, pain is a response to something else happening in the body. Through our biokinetic assessment we find the cause of the problem and treat that.

MCG Biokinetics has a special interest in treating back pain, sports injuries and orthopedic conditions. However our practice is not limited to seeing just these type of patients. We also see patients with chronic conditions, patients with neurological conditions and kids. The MCG team are both physically active and understand the value of a strong team.

A paediatrician is a specialist medical doctor that offers management of the physical, behavioral, and mental care of children from birth.

Paediatricians are trained to diagnose and treat a broad range of childhood illnesses, from minor health problems to serious diseases.

Your paediatrician will see your baby often from birth to 2 years of age and usually every year from age 2 to age 5. From age 5, check ups are normally done yearly unless there are concerns or complications. If your child isn’t well, the person to call would be a paediatrician. In caring for your child, a pediatrician will:

  • Perform a physical exam
  • Give or recommend vaccines
  • Measure and monitor developmental milestones in growth, behavior, and skills
  • Diagnose and treat your child’s illnesses, infections, injuries, and other health problems
  • Offer information about your child’s health, safety, nutrition, and fitness needs
  • Provide insight about your child’s growth and development
  • A Paed is also able to refer to other medical professionals if need be.
